As a paper maker and fine artist that completed my Master of Fine Arts degree at Concordia University, studying paper making and making handmade paper art. I create paper art both as a home decor for people to purchase and hang in their homes, but also as handmade paper art that can be exhibited in galleries and exhibitions all around the world. I will be sharing about my favourite handmade paper art that I have made over the years in this blog post below.
Handmade Paper Art
home decor
I love making handmade paper art with recycled roadmaps. It's very cool to blend up the road maps and be able to form a sheet of handmade paper and see parts of different places from roadmaps. It's also feels really good to re-purpose the roadmaps and give them another life since roadmaps aren't really practical or useful anymore.

Next, I really love creating paper out of repurposed denim and I have created some denim paper art. You can click the button button below to check out the handmade denim paper art.
The next handmade paper that I really like making is working with abaca and has a really beautiful texture and a soft beige colour when it dries, I think it looks really lovely framed, and I created my fields series by sewing on a dissolvable paper back-and-forth back-and-forth and I'm betting this sewed drawing into the handmade paper art. Handmade Paper Art - Contemporary Art
Next, I will share about some of my contemporary fine art that I have made with handmade paper. My first piece is a large installation that's called Fields, and it's made with sewing on a dissolvable paper with some flax paper pop embedded into the sewing it's installed away from the wall and with lighting it creates these lovely shadows cascading on the white walls of the gallery to learn more about this installation you can click here.
Another piece of special handmade paper art is my artwork called Remnants. This is re-purposing found clothing from my grandfather who is a retired farmer and I'm using his clothing to also make the paper so I'm using the denim from his old blue jeans that he had on the farm to create the paper. This artwork holds a lot of memory and emotional significance of how clothing carries different memory is of our relatives. To learn more about this handmade paper artwork, you can click here.
And my last favourite piece of handmade paper contemporary art work is of course my series Patched. This is an ongoing installation and photography. This is where I use handmade map paper from recycled roadmaps and I add this pulp into trees where parts of the back are naturally peeled away as a form of poetic mending.
