If you have been looking for original, handcrafted artwork to bring into your home — or to give as a meaningful, one-of-a-kind gift — a commissioned piece might be exactly what you are looking for. This post walks through everything you need to know about my art commission prices, what I offer, and how the process works.
Art Commission Prices
How Art Commissions Work
Art commission prices and availability vary widely from artist to artist, and the best way to find out whether an artist is currently taking commissions is to check their website, social media pages, or reach out directly. Many artists, myself included, open commission spots only a few times per year rather than maintaining a continuous waitlist.
In this season of life — raising two young children — I keep my commission calendar intentionally small. I take on a limited number of pieces each year so that every commission receives the time and care it deserves. If you are interested in working with me, I encourage you to get in touch sooner rather than later, as spots fill quickly when they open.
You can reach me by filling out the contact form at the bottom of this page or by emailing me directly at info@jackiepartridgeart.com.
Cyanotype Commissions
Every year from April through September, I open a small number of cyanotype commission spots. The cyanotype process uses natural sunlight as part of the printing method, which is why these commissions are seasonal — the longer days and stronger light of the warmer months make the process possible.
Cyanotypes produce a beautiful, distinctive blue-and-white print. They are elegant, archival, and completely unlike any other type of artwork. If you have not seen one in person, I would encourage you to look through the examples on this page — the depth of tone and the fine botanical detail are difficult to fully appreciate in photographs.
When you commission a cyanotype, you have two important choices to make: the size of the piece, and the botanical subject — the plant or flower that will be featured in the print.
Plants and botanicals currently available for cyanotype commissions include:
- Palm leaf
- Pine branch
- Buttercups
- Queen Anne's Lace
- Cedar branch
- Daisy
- Maple leaf
- Oak leaf
- Wheat
If you have a particular plant or flower in mind that is not on this list, please reach out and ask. Some botanicals do not translate well to the cyanotype process, and I am always happy to help guide you toward a choice that will look beautiful in the final piece.
I also offer the option to add text to your cyanotype. This can be a monogram, initials, or a short word, in your choice of font size and style. This makes cyanotype commissions a particularly meaningful option for wedding gifts, anniversary pieces, new home gifts, or anything where a personal touch matters.
Cyanotype Commission Prices
- 5" x 7" — $60 CAD
- 8" x 10" — $110 CAD
If you are looking for a size not listed above, please get in touch and we can discuss pricing and options by email or on a brief Zoom call if that works better for you.
Mixed Media and Acrylic Abstract Commissions
Acrylic mixed media with recipe cards and family photos - art commission
From October through April, I open a small number of mixed media and acrylic abstract commission spots. These paintings are deeply personal, layered pieces — each one is unique and created specifically for the person who commissions it.
During our initial conversation, we will discuss the colours and mood you are drawn to, and whether there are any specific materials or meaningful objects you would like incorporated into the artwork. Mixed media pieces can include photographs, handwritten notes, recipe cards, fabric, and other personal items that hold significance for you or the person you are gifting the piece to. This is what makes mixed media commissions so special — the finished artwork can hold real memory and meaning in a way that a purchased print simply cannot.
Mixed Media and Acrylic Abstract Commission Prices
- 12" x 12" or smaller — $300
- 13"–15" x 8"–15" — $350
- 16"–20" x 16"–20" — $425
- 21"–32" x 21"–32" — $500
Custom sizes outside of these dimensions are available — please email me at info@jackiepartridgeart.com to discuss pricing.
A 50% deposit is required to secure your commission spot, with the remaining balance due upon receipt of the completed artwork.
