Friends and Lovers: Group Exhibition at Button Factory Arts, 2020

I am a part of a group exhibition at Button Factory Arts in Waterloo on Friday January 17, 2020 from 5-7pm curated by Tee Kundu. See artwork by Jackie Partridge during this exhibition. If you missed the exhibition you can see artwork of mine here!

This group exhibition with the theme of Friends and Lovers is curated by Tee Kundu.

I will have three works shown in the exhibition and I would love for you to come and see all of the other great art in the show!

Button Factory Arts is located at 25 Regina St. S Waterloo, ON, Canada.

I will be showing my work Patched and a Nook for a Nest.  Patched is an ongoing series of photography that I started during my Master of Fine Arts at Concordia University. Living in Montreal was my first time living in a big city and away from nature and trees. Luckily, our apartment backed onto Mont Royal Park, a large green-space. I began to spend a lot of time there and see the trees as more than trees. I was also doing research on forest bathing at the time and the benefits of being out in nature. Since I was in the Fibres and Material Practices Program I was interested in paper making and began to patch trees where the bark had naturally peeled away.

I saw my Patched Project as a form of mending the tree in a poetic way or an offering of paper back to the tree.

Nook for a Nest is a series of photographs where I add twisted strands of map paper into nooks of trees as a nest or a temporary home.

In the Friends and Lovers exhibition curated by Tee Kundu I will be showing two framed photographs from the Patched series and one framed photograph from a Nook for a Nest series.

If you get a chance to see the exhibition or any exhibition of mine please use the hashtag #jackiepartridge.

I hope to see you at the opening Friday January 17th from 5-7pm or at the closing reception in the evening of January 31st!

Here is a sneak peek at a work of mine titled 'Broken' that I have in the exhibition:
